Passion

Psalm 42:1-2

As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God.

My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?

There is something about a passionate person that gets results. People without passion get very few results in their lives and just wander around in life without focus and purpose.

What is it you are passionate about?

For me, well it’s no secret that I am passionate about worshiping God. I want to see His Name lifted high and that He be made famous. I want to shout it from the rooftops, I want the world to know my wonderful savior!

As the above verse points out, my heart echoes David’s words where I pant and long for God and my inner self thirsts for Him, the Living God!

There is something about knowing God that quenches the very appetites of our hearts! When you become so hungry and thirsty for Him, everything else pales in comparison.

I want to give you a few characteristics of passionate people. We all need to have purpose and focus or we will never accomplish anything. Think about what you love to do, where you like to spend your time? This may give you a clue to your destiny. For me, music has been my oasis of sorts ever since I remember. Listening, writing, and making music has become my passion and mixed with my love for the Lord, I took what I had and am using it for Gods Glory!

Passionate people are:

1.      Persistent: They do not give up, they don’t quit when things get tough. They know what they want and will not stop till they have acquired it! The woman with issue of blood was passionate and persistent in getting to Jesus! She pressed through the very obstacles and received her miracle. Be persistent, Be bold and Be strong enough to go after what moves you!

Proverbs 28:20The Message (MSG) 20 Committed and persistent work pays off;
   get-rich-quick schemes are ripoffs.

2.      Aggressive: passionate people find a way to get things done. They have a goal. They have a purpose. They have a zeal that pushes them to press through to the finish. When you are not aggressive you are passive and passive people do not see results. They will always keep waiting and never having. Passive people procrastinate and will never pursue their desires and passions.

David showed aggression toward goliath when he went up in battle. David was confident in the power of His God, not in the power of the enemy!

1 Samuel 17:45-48

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.

3.      Strong. Passionate people find strength to move forward even against all odds. Deep inside them raises strength to try again in the midst of failure, or not take NO for an answer. Strong people are leaders; they have ability never back down.  We need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Passionate people stand when others fall, they succeed when others fail because of their ability to tap into the power of God!

Ephesians 6:10

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

4.      Steadfast.

Passionate people are fixed in position. They have their eyes on the finish line. They have a resolution, a faith that What God said will come to pass and they don’t lose sight of it. They march forward, they don’t lose heart, but keep on doing what they know to do. Passion drives us and pushes us forward. Be steadfast in your God, and stay focused on Him, He will direct your paths

1 Peter 5:10

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

5.      Intimate.

Intimacy is the calling card of passionate people.  They are closely connected to the heart of God. They are sensitive to the needs of others and listen closely to the heartbeat of God. They have a deep, unusual knowledge of God. Someone once told me that when I worship, they can SEE that I have been with God, because of the passion that is birthed out of a close relationship with the Father

Intimate people are not afraid of their lover, or friend. They are so closely entwined that they have a honest, open relationship. David often poured out his heart to God in intimate passion. He was often frustrated, sad, lonely, distressed, but knew that God would never leave him or forsake him. He had a intimate revelation of God that we need to get hold of. Come to Him no matter what. Stay close to God. Run TO him, not from Him.

You were His passion, Let Him become your passion!

Psalm 42:1-2

As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God.

My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?

 Overcomer's:

Passionate people are fighters to the finish. They have the ability to overcome obstacles, hindrances, issues, opinions, etc.. because they know who they are in Christ. They prevail when others give up, passion and fire keeps them from defeat. Passionless people don’t have vision, so they don’t where they are going therefore not having anything ahead of them to look forward to. This lack of vision will keep them in a parked position, and always living beneath instead of overcoming the situations that arise. Overcomer's are victorious, not defeated! Passionate people may not win every battle, but they always get back up when knocked down

2 Corinthians 2:14-16.

14-16In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.

6.      Never Quit.

Passionate people never give up, or give in. They don’t stop in the middle of a race. They learn to rely on the strength inside them. They don’t lose sight of the prize in front of them. They keep their eyes on Jesus. A Holy adrenaline ignites in your soul and you can’t give up, you just have a driving force behind you to keep going.

Hebrews 12:1-3

1-3Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

Don’t ever think you are finished, or think that you are not important. You are here for a reason and purpose. Dig deep within, ask God to reveal Himself to you, and you will find desire, and passion for God grow as you develop a relationship with Him. Out of that awesome romance with God, you will begin to hear His very heartbeat for you. You may already know Gods rhythm for your life, I encourage you to find strength to run with it, and build it inside you until you know that you know you are in the middle of your destiny! Success is not measured by greatness, but greatness is measured by obedience.

Let’s be passionate people for God, and make a difference in our world!
