Pleasing God vs. Pleasing Man

Hebrews 11:6

It’s impossible to
please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him.

This is an amazing scripture to me. First of all my heart is after God and i want to do all i can to please Him. However, how many of us go through our days trying to please others and God is an afterthought or pleasing God isn't even an option.

I am not talking to non believers or non Christians here, I am speaking to Christians, yet why do we struggle with pleasing God vs. pleasing man?
This scripture holds a key that I want to camp out at for a moment.

You see for years, I always thought the pleasing God was something that happened when i completed a list of rules or had a "good day" without sinning, etc.
However according to this scripture, this had nothing to do with pleasing God.

If you were saved by faith and grace, than God will maintain you by grace. It has NOTHING to do with me, but everything to do with God.
My abilities to do good are worthless efforts, however, i so long to please God. How do we do that?

"By Believing that He is a rewarder of those that seek him" or the message version above says
"That He cares enough to respond to those who seek Him".
That is all that is required to please God.

  • Not a list of do's and don'ts
  • Not pleasing people
  • Not going to church
  • Not reading your bible enough
  • or even praying enough.

What pleases God the most is that you seek Him, build a relationship with Him and believe He desires to reward you for doing that.
He actually cares enough to respond to those that seek Him.

For those that struggle with grace and the letting go of your Works, this will bring freedom.
Simply relax and seek Him first and all other things will come into line.
God is my source, my life and my reason for living.

I simply believe that if we trust God and take Him at His word and believe that He is a rewarder, and not a punish-er, that in itself will set us free to be all who God wants us to be.

If we could have done it on our own in the first place, we wouldn't have needed a savior.
We need to relax, seek and accept the reward of the Father!

You are a winner, an over-comer, a victor and not a victim.
You are on the winning team.

The Reward is Jesus! Seek Him and you cannot lose!
God bless you,

Heather Anne
